From the Family Research Council website:
The way that current law is written makes it clear that unless
abortion is specifically excluded from coverage, it is included. This
is why the Hyde amendment, which prohibits direct taxpayer funding of
abortion, has been so important. However, the Hyde amendment does not apply to the current health care bills attracting the most attention in Congress.
Every single Committee vote in the U.S. House and U.S. Senate to
prohibit abortion funding and mandating coverage has failed.
President Obama's health overhaul funds abortions with your tax dollars
and forces you to pay premiums for insurance plans that cover
abortions. The health care plan also would mandate that insurers cover
abortion so that providers in such programs would be forced to
participate in abortion.
